Privacy Policy — Restroom

The short version

Restroom is a local-first application. Your collections, environments, requests, and API responses never leave your machine unless you explicitly export or share them. We don't have access to what you're testing. We don't want it.

What we collect

We collect the minimum necessary to run the service:

→ Email address, when you purchase a licence. Used to deliver your licence key and send important account updates.
→ Device identifier, generated locally and used only for licence activation. It is a random ID, not tied to any hardware fingerprint.
→ Payment details, handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We never see or store your card number.
→ Crash reports, if you opt in. Aggregated and anonymised. You can disable this in Settings at any time.

What we don't collect

✕ The contents of your requests or responses
✕ Your API keys, tokens, or credentials
✕ Your collection names or endpoint URLs
✕ Keystroke data, usage heatmaps, or session recordings
✕ Any data from your proxied traffic

Licence validation

When you activate or revalidate a Pro licence, the app contacts our API with your licence key and device identifier. This check is infrequent and contains no personal information beyond what is needed to confirm the licence is valid. It works offline for up to 30 days using a signed token stored locally.

Third-party services

→ Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and licence management. Their privacy policy applies to checkout and billing data.
→ Google Cloud — hosts our licence API. Traffic is encrypted in transit.

Data retention

Licence records are kept for as long as your licence is active plus a reasonable period thereafter for billing disputes. If you delete your account or request removal, we will delete your email and device records within 30 days.

Your rights

You may request a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@restroom.dev. We'll respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll notify licence holders by email before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
